Journey Information

Passport

You will need a passport that is at least 6 months valid from the time of
your departure in Bali back home. You will receive an entry form for Bali
on the plane.

Visa

In the past the nationals of 48 nations were given a 60-day visa-free stay upon arrival at an Indonesian international gateway. Since February 1, 2004, only 11 countries and territories are still eligible for a "Visa Free" facility, they are: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Chile, Morocco, Peru and Vietnam.

The citizens of 21 countries and territories eligible to purchase visas on arrival are: the United States, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Finland, Hungary, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Norway, France, Poland, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Taiwan.
The nationals of these 21 countries are required to obtain a "Visa on Arrival" processed at the gate of entry following the payment of an official fee, which costs US$ 25 for a 30 day visa and US$ 10 for a 3 day visa.

The Visa on Arrival is non-extendable and cannot be converted into another class of visa. Once payment is completed the tourists proceed to an immigration counter for final inspection of documents and visa issuance.

In case of a longer stay, visa must be applied in advance and is possible for tourists and business.

Citizens who are not mentioned here (for example, Dutch, Austrian) have to apply for a visa before entering Indonesia with an Indonesian Embassy or Consulate long enough in advance in their country.

Leaving Bali

You have to pay an airport tax of 100.000 IRP per person. Who cannot pay is not allowed to leave the country.

Driving car or motorbike

Driving car or motorbike yourself in Bali needs an international driving license.

Vaccination and Health

You are not obliged to have them, but vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria, polio and hepatitis A is recommendable. HIV/Aids is a big problem and danger in Bali. Risk of infection: unprotected sexual contact, sharing needles, blood transfusion.

About Food and Mosquitoes:
Eat and drink only hygienic food (only cooked; careful with ice cream and iced drinks, salads and pealed fruits in simple traditional snack bars).
Use effective mosquito repellents, nets, covering clothes. If you take care of this, most of the partly dangerous diarrheas and as well as many infection illnesses can be avoided. Also the dengue fever and malaria which are transferred by mosquitoes. An individual consultation with a doctor concerning vaccination is recommended strongly as well as a valid travel-insurance.
