Jaap van Manen - Spiritual Counselling & Mindbody Awareness

Jaap was born in the Netherlands in 1954 and  trained as a theologian,  teacher of creative dance and life coach. These three studies reflect his personal and spiritual development.

Beginning from within the Christian church, Jaap broadened his perspective on spirituality via the works of Krishnamurti, Nisargadatta, Bhagwan and New Age spirituality and Buddhism until he realised that spirituality did not need a specific form; it could find form at every moment in whatever situation: on your own, with others, on a bicycle, in a dance studio, looking at a tree, in a conversation, even in a church.  This awarness, and his desire to support people, shines through and informs his work.

Jaap will offer a mix of sessions including individual counselling sessions, as well as group MindBody awareness activities such as Chakra Dance, Authentic Movement, Quantum Light Breath and Meditation.

Jaap’s time is available free of charge to Gaia guests as part of the Gaia spiritual community.  Attached please find his short biography cum CV.

Vanessa Jessop - Yoga

Vanessa Jessop, from Western Australia, has been practising yoga since 1993.

Following various corporate roles, Vanessa kicked off her shoes to complete yoga teacher training in Byron Bay with Yoga Arts, John Ogilvie & Louise Solomon. She taught at Byron Bay Yoga before returning to Perth in 2004 to teach corporate yoga, public classes and private sessions.

She has been studying and practising meditation in the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism for 12 years and continues to receive teachings on a regular basis.

Vanessa finds great joy in witnessing positive change in others and her personal mission is to use yoga to assist as many people as possible to experience inner peace and happiness. She believes in the healing nature of yoga to strengthen and relax both the body and mind. To further explore this healing nature, Vanessa recently completed yoga therapy training with TKV Desikachar and other senior teachers at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in India.

Classes with Vanessa are a flowing vinyasa style of yoga and students are encouraged to practise with mindfulness. The emphasis is on staying in the present moment to develop a safe, focused practice. Pranayama and meditation are included, along with a sense of playfulness. Vanessa is looking forward to sharing her energy at Gaia.
